The Gilgit-Baltistan budget for the financial year 2021-22 with an expense of over Rs105 billion was introduced during a session of the GB Assembly on Saturday. GB Minister for Finance Javed Manova introduced the budget recommendations. He reported a 10% increment in the compensation of government workers in Grade 1 to 22.
As indicated by the budget recommendations, Rs10 billion have been distributed for appropriation on wheat. It was the main budget of the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) GB government.
The resistance parties including Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (JUI), and one autonomous official Nawaz Khan Naji boycotted the budget discourse.
As per the budget documents, Rs44.4 billion have been assigned for advancement plans and Rs51.5 billion for non-improvement plans. For wellbeing office Rs60.1 crore have been reserved, while Rs34 crore for education, Rs1.2 billion for works office, and Rs1.3 billion have been assigned for power office.
